"Modern Greeks" is a visual meditation on the cellular and cultural persistence of the
past. This project moves beyond the physical ruins of Greece to explore the "living
ruins" carried within the faces and identities of its contemporary people. By utilizing
digital layering and double exposures, I merge the timeless aesthetics of ancient
marble and clay with the vibrant, lived reality of today's citizens.
This series functions as a psychological bridge, illustrating that the legacy of our
ancestors is not a distant memory but a skin we currently inhabit. The work suggests
that every modern Greek is a palimpsest, a canvas where ancient features, values,
and histories are constantly being rewritten without ever being fully erased.
